2 oz vodka (We used McClintock Distilling)
1 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
Top with seltzer
Build the drink in a glass full of ice. Top with seltzer. Give a quick stir. Garnish with Grapefruit.
•1 1/2oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
•3/4oz rosemary simple syrup
•Juice from 1/2 a lemon
•4-5oz of club soda
1 cup hot water
1 Earl Grey Tea Bag
2 healthy tbsps bitter orange marmalade
2 tbsp Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
2 tbsp whole milk
Garnish with freshly ground black pepper & a discarded grapefruit twist
-
Add 1 tea bag to 1 cup of boiling water. Let the tea sit a little longer than you might otherwise if you were just drinking the tea by itself. Remove the tea bag.
-
Add the marmalade while the water is still warm. Mix until it dissolves.
-
Add the shrub and the 2 tbsp of milk. Normally, you would boil the milk in a milk punch, but I just put the milk in cold because the water was already hot.
-
Let it settle for a minute. Pour everything through some kind of fine filter (cheesecloth, coffee filter). I used a non-disposable fine mesh coffee filter. Dispose of the curds.
-
Put it in the fridge to chill. Or if you can't wait just give it a quick shake with an ice cube.
Try these homemade Liege waffles with grapefruit vanilla (shrub) maple syrup, Greek yogurt and fresh black berries.
.
Mix 3 parts Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub with a quality maple syrup
This sorbet (no cream or eggs - so it is healthy) has a wonderful richness and warmth to it thanks to the vanilla. The grapefruit shrub has just the right amount of zip and citrusy goodness and the rosemary adds the perfect amount of savory.
1 cup sugar (3/4 cup if you want a little less sweet)
1 1/4 cup water
A few sprigs of fresh rosemary
1/4 cup Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub diluted with 1 3/4 cup water
1/2 vanilla bean * 1 tsp fresh grapefruit zest
Make a simple syrup with the water and sugar. Bring to a boil and add the rosemary and 1/2 a vanilla bean (split open). Let this infuse for 5-10 minutes. Add the diluted shrub and grapefruit zest and stir to incorporate. Let this sit in the fridge (covered) overnight.
Add syrup mixture to an ice cream maker and let that thing churn until it turns into sorbet.
It is fantastic on it is own but I won't be upset if you use this as the base (just add spirit) for a frozen cocktail with a little gin, vodka or bourbon
1 oz mezcal
1 oz Aperol
1 oz elderflower liqueur
1 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir and strain into a coupe. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
]]>3 1/2 oz Rosé Champagne
3/4 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
1/2 simple syrup
1/4 oz fresh blood orange juice
Similar to the Frosé but without the ice. Add shrub, simple and blood orange juice to a champagne flute and top with Champagne.
Garnish with grapefruit, rosemary and a dehydrated blood orange slice.

2 oz of your favorite whiskey
1 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
2 dashes grapefruit bitters
Garnish: a grapefruit twist
Stir all ingredients with ice/strain into a rocks glass with a fresh ice chunk that should be a slightly more symmetrical cube.
1 1/2 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Moonshine
1 oz Pear water*
3/4 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
Several dashes of Orange Spice (We used @rootbitters)
Add ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain over new ice. Garnish with a grapefruit twist (optionally wrapped around a whole vanilla bean).
This drink is really well balanced and the spice notes from the bitters really pull it all together.
*Ok so "pear water"... One of the things I love making in the fall is homemade applesauce 🍎🍎 but we had some extra pears 🍐from our Chai Pear production so I made pearsauce instead. The "pear water" is the excess water that was left after food milling and straining the pearsauce.
.
To me this is really exciting for two reasons:
.
1. This "water" would have otherwise gone to waste.
2. We basically created a pear simple syrup without adding any sugar.
.
Enjoy and happy upcycling everyone.

2oz gin (we used @mcclintockdistilling)
1oz Suze liqueur
1oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
Top with (2oz) cold sparkling water
For those of you not familiar with Suze (I just learned about this week), it is a (bitter) French aperitif made from gentian root, a popular bittering agent used to make bitters and other (Italian) Amari.

2 oz of your favorite aged rum
1/4 oz velvet falernum syrup
1/2 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
1/2 oz lime juice
2 dashes lime bitters
Garnish: dehydrated grapefruit wheel
Shake with ice and strain.
]]>3/4 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
3/4 oz burnt caramel syrup*
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
2 tsp marmalade
Add all of the ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled and until the marmalade is incorporated into the drink. Serve over clear ice.
*Creating bitterness in non-alcoholic drinks is always a challenge. Depending on how strict you are with booze it is hard to find concentrated bitters that are 100% alcohol free. SO, in lieu of bitters e are using a burnt caramel syrup. Here is how you make it:
Add sugar to a sauce pan on medium heat
Swirl it around to evenly melt sugar and keep cooking until sugar is a very dark brown
Add water to sauce pan to dissolve sugar
2 oz sparkling wine or Champagne
1 oz gin
1/2 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
barspoon thyme simple syrup
Shake all ingredients (except champagne) until thoroughly chilled. Strain into a champagne flute and top with champagne.
Ingredients:
2oz fresh grapefruit juice
1 1/2oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
1oz mint 🌱 simple
Top with a bit a soda
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a shaker except soda. Shake and strain over new ice. Top with soda.
2 oz unsweetened cold brew coffee
1 1/2 oz vodka
3/4 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub

2 oz Cold-Brewed Coffee
3/4 oz Grapefruit Vanilla Element Shrub
3/4 oz Rosemary Syrup
To make the rosemary syrup: combine a cup of sugar, a cup of water, and a sprig of rosemary in a saucepan over low heat. Stir frequently until the sugar has melted, then remove from heat and allow the rosemary to infuse for 1o-20 minutes. Strain out the rosemary, bottle the syrup, and refrigerate.
Combine the coffee, grapefruit-vanilla shrub, and rosemary syrup in a mixing glass and stir with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a candied cherry and grapefruit peel.
